Blog Post In Progress

Blogging Around The Block

I haven't been motivated to clear out my flower beds as yet. But soon because I have blooms ready to unfold their glory to the sun God. I have the double daffodils that are pale pink and ivory and my ice stick tulips that are white with pink and blue streaks ready any day now.

Stopping by Karen's blog I see she's getting her grounds ready for spring blossoms. She's got some nice photos of her dutch irises and other beauties.

I can't get into Marie's for some reason just now but earlier today I saw the sweetest photo of a new born calf nursing. Very touching. And she always captures the best of her subjects of which many are four legged.

Bryn is feeling the spring coming on, too, and speaks quite eloquently of its arrival.

Anathea observes the changing pulse of the blogosphere. Have the drumbeats of paranoia sounded so loudly we're unable to hear anything else?

Shirl's cat, Snuzzles, may be part dog. He's actually fetching and bringing back the mouse. Pretty cool cat.

Julie is fiddling with Flickr to make a nice portrait. Of course, it helps when you have a great looking face to work with like she does!

** Why does a box appear around my little red star bullets in front of the posts? It doesn't show up in editing and usually a border="0" will eliminate that. It reminds me of our sweet Mandarin Meg because I always turned to her for web help.

Good-bye Lynn

Hi dear friends. You're not my online friends. You're my friends.

So sad to lose another friend in our Lynn. So sad. Her blog is still on my blogroll. Maybe I'll take it down tomorrow.

Maybe not.

Oh, no. I just found out that Estel, my brother-in-law passed away this morning. He was Robin's first husband. They'd been divorced for years, but was like a family member to us and was a friend of my first husband's. (We may need a score card)

He also had HepC, like she did. Damn this HepC all to hell. He'd been terminal for the past year, so it wasn't a big surprise to hear that he'd passed, but it sure does hurt. He absolutely adored Robin. She had that effect on people.

I just lit two candles on my altar beside a picture of Robin and I placed a picture I had of them both together by the candles. I lit some incense, rang a tiny brass bell, got out my handkerchief and sat down to write this.

Damn.

Now for the tedious or regular stuff. My neighbors and friends, new and old, will recognize some of the local info I'll spout forth.

Just back from stopping at White's Grocery and florist, Felty-Rowland. We bought a nice Peace Lily plant for our next door neighbor who passed away yesterday morning. He was only diagnosed with cancer 4-6 weeks ago. He had a lump on his neck and was feeling weak so he went to see about it. So sad. He was probably mid to late sixties. About two weeks ago I saw him riding his golf cart (which is a popular way to get around our neighborhood as we're beside the golf course). He drove to the 15th tee, directly behind his house. There was a foursome getting ready to tee off and he was talking and laughing with them. It was the first time I'd seen him since I've been back in Tennessee, my childhood home since 1959. He threw his hand up so high, shaking his whole arm, and grinning said, "Hi, Susan!" He radiated such joy that day. I later told Mother that it may be the last image I'll have of him. Turns out it is.

Came back and fed the sweet doggies, Sugar and Buddy. Does anyone ever call their pets by their given name? I call Sugar, Sug Avery, from the movie, The Color Purple. And I call Buddy, Bubba or Bubbie. My husband calls Buddy, Mr Cook and Mother calls him Mister. Do you do that? Or am I just weirder than I thought I was? Ha!

My beautiful sister, Robin, lost her long, brave fight with cancer on Thanksgiving morning @ 6:00am. Her funeral is tomorrow. There are so many loving memories I'll always hold dear, but my heart is beyond broken.
