It's Halloween-- almost

Who's dressing up for Halloween? What are you going to be? I haven't dressed up in ages. I'll be handing out goodies tomorrow night.

I bought 96 pieces and I'm hoping that's enough. It's all calorie-laden, cavity-inducing, sugar concoctions.

And then I may pour myself a drink.

Many ladies are spending $18 on Chanel's "Black Satin" nail polish -- or varnis, in the Chanel vernacular. The Chanel is now completely sold out, but you can find more on eBay if you want to pay $49.99 for it. And Opi's "Lincoln Park After Dark," is also MIA. Even good old Wet & Wild was cleaned out. I bought the last W&W's black polish, "R.I.P." at CVS during Halloween. I haven't done a black pedicure yet, I still have a nice soft pink on, but the manicure is fun to do. Especially with a white french tip.

Remember Chanel's "Vamp"? About 10 years or so ago? Deep dark blood red/black? It was selling out in a flash, too.

I guess wild manicures are one safe place a crone like me can enjoy a little rowdiness. Do you like the wild, dark polish?

Wow, I thought I was without internet access at home for 2 wks, but it's just been one week. My monitor died and I got another one, so I'm catching up on email and hope to be back in the groove soon.

Man, this thing is my lifeline. Especially with Robin. She's been deaf since 17 and can't use the phone, so we've corresponded through email and IM since 1999. And I couldn't get online at work because of a training class we were doing and I was in another department. Speaking of which, they've cut back hours on many people and have laid off some middle management folks. I feel lucky to be working 4 days a week. But keeping my eye on something else to open up.

Skyler and her friend Jess are going to some type of party tonight that's hosted by Pinhead, so she says. Not sure, but I think he's a character from some Halloween-type movie.

So. That's what's new with me these past few days. Will try to visit everyone real soon and see how you're doing. HAPPY HALLOWEEN.

I've been a member of Webshots since 2000, and no telling how long they've been around before that. I don't see anything else that's as good as they are for what they do. They offer free screensavers and wallpaper that's sent in by other online users and is really exceptional. I especially enjoy using it around any holiday, such as Halloween. I set it up to rotate lovely Halloween images on my desktop. Great landscapes and scenery shots, too. The search feature is quite handy. Shirl could look up "barns" and probably find several nice specimens. Do you still dress up your desktop? If so, what do you use? I'm currently using some nice pumpkin and fall backgrounds from Webshots.

Oh, no. It's that time. I said I'd give it a go, and I will. At this point I have a slim idea of what I'm writing about and my working title is Truth Enema.

I really need to find out WHERE we write our novel since they count the words for us, I hope that' right. If we get 2000 words a day, we're doing great, I believe. Guess I should finish reading the papers and get on the Nano stuff.

Happy Halloween! & Blessed Samhain!

This may seem like a small thing, but when you've had years, well decades, of trouble with alcohol, and assorted drugs, this is an event in itself.

My sister, Robin, and I always went Trick or Treating as children, of course. Later, we went our own way with our lives. Later still, we got together again to Trick or Treat, or rather, celebrate Halloween. Celebrate by getting roaring drunk, going to all the parties, dancing, dressing up, having a lot of laughs, the whole nine. Still I always managed to have great fun and made a party every place I went.

The very first November the 1st that I woke up withOUT a hangover was cause for even bigger celebration that Halloween. I'm certainly not schooling anyone about drinking or drugging. It wasn't just my pass time; it was my lifestyle. I was perpetually drunk and stoned while going to college, raising a family and keeping a decent job, and half-assed pulled some of it off.

So I still pause to reflect and pat myself on the back each Nov 1 that passes and finds me drawing another sober breath. And it's alright if I'm not setting the world on fire. I'm happy just to be in the race.
