After a year of my sewing machine not working, I fixed it! I took it apart to oil it and I saw a belt had slipped off something important looking and I put it back on. Simple as that.

I just finished making a plain velvet pouch from a scrap I had (without the embroidery) and now I'm looking for some more fabric to resume my sewing and needlework addiction. With no fabric on hand, I've been known to rip up an old blouse and make placemats or something, so believe me when I tell you I have a sewing addiction. Well, more like a creative addiction, I suppose. The urge is great and the payoff is a joyous rush. And walking into a great fabric store is a sure-fire bliss enducer.

Maybe next I'll make a shawl, a skirt or a lap quilt. Possibly some more pants for Daddy-O. He likes the pants I've made for him that have an elastic waistband and pockets and enjoys wearing them around the house or to sleep in. And the funkier the fabric, the better. I'd also like to try fabric art or fabric collage, where you cut and sew pieces to make a design and you usually use it as a wall hanging. Takes some mighty fierce sewing skills to do that.

Oh no, no, no ... it doesn't take mighty fierce sewing skills to do fabric art! It takes an iron and a straight or zig zag stitch! You can do it! I don't know if you've heard of Artist Trading Cards - but they are little pieces of art the size of a playing card. You can make them out of fabric too! Great way to try your hand at fabric collage. I have a tutorial on my blog that shows you how to make these. Go to http://www.artdolls.info and you can see it. I'd die if my sewing machine went belly up for a year, don't know how you did it! (grin)
